On the return of students to classes based on which grade they in, will allow schools to become useful points for health workers to conduct screenings and testing of the Covid-19 after the lockdown and check the virus within their families and homes. This are some of the benefits the Government believes this process could be good upon the students.

By being able to conduct tests and screening in schools, the target of people being screened and tested before winter could be exceeded .

Teachers would also be provided with content summaries, study guides, lessons plans and revisions exercises for camps and catch up programmes for students.

Department of Basic education draft framework for a curriculum recovery plan after the lockdown, which has revealed that scrapping off June examinations and shortening June and September holidays to save the school year

According to the plan the Department of Education has drafted, Grade 12 and 7 could return on 6 May., followed by Grade 11 and 6 on the 20th of May. Grade 10 and 5 then followed on the 3rd of June, Grade 9 and 4 on the 17th June and Grade 8 and 3 on the 1st of July and last and not least Grade 1,2 and R would return on the 8th and 15th of July.
Klopper said the recovery plan had to be finalized if the lockdown ends on April 30th. "But if that changes it will be difficult to continue with that and a new plan will have to be devised."

He still added that the particularly a concern with the regards of Grade R to 3 would be impossible to implement social distancing 1.5m apart from each other.

If classes do not resume this could lead to the disruption of next year's schooling calendar.
